The summer months mean fruit mania at my house. We eat fruit year round, but we love to buy things at the farmer's market when they're in season because the flavor and quality is so much better. When are blueberries in season?
In North Carolina, blueberries are in season from May until July, although you will mostly find local fresh blueberries in the months of June and July.
Although you hear about Maine blueberries a lot, in the US, the majority of blueberries are actually grown in Oregon and Washington. Because of the wide range of growing climates, fresh blueberries can be found for six to seven months out of the year. But of course, you can buy them in most grocery stores year round.
Frozen blueberries will be suitable for most of these recipes if you're trying to make them in the off season.
