Let me introduce you to the easiest and most delicious sweet treats for your cookie exchange this year (if they last that long!). Peppermint bark meets with Oreo cookies to create a addictive treat in these peppermint bark Oreos. They will be a big hit at your holiday party!
Gluten free mint Oreos are dipped in vegan white chocolate and topped with crushed candy canes for the dessert you didn't know you needed this holiday season, but you definitely do. Peppermint bark is one of my favorite treats this time of year, so I have not been able to stop eating these peppermint Oreo cookies. Be warned you might need a double batch! Luckily they only take three ingredients and a few minutes to make, plus they are no bake, gluten free and vegan.

Ingredient Notes
You will never imagine that three simple ingredients can make such a tasty treat!
- Gluten Free Mint Oreos - I highly recommend using the yummy mint Oreos for these cookies. The extra mint flavor is just the thing this recipe needs. I know not all stores carry the mint flavored cookies, so if you want to use classic Oreos you can.
- Vegan White Chocolate - Since white chocolate is mostly made of dairy, vegan white chocolate isn't really chocolate at all but it tastes very similar. If you're not dairy free or vegan, my first choice would be the Ghiradelli white chocolate baking bars.
- Peppermint Candy Canes - You only need a few full size candy canes (or maybe 6-7 mini candy canes) for this recipe. If you're following a gluten free diet, make sure you're buying gluten free candy. If you can't find candy canes, regular peppermint candies will work just as well.
See recipe card for full ingredient list and quantities.
Substitutions & Variations
- Not Gluten Free - Use regular Oreos, mint or plain, or even mini Oreos in place of the gluten free option.
- Not Dairy Free - Use Ghiradelli white chocolate baking bars in place of the vegan white chocolate.
- Chocolate Switchup - Replace white chocolate with milk chocolate or dark chocolate - or use both dark chocolate and white chocolate together.
- Can't Find Mint Oreos? Replace them with plain gluten free Oreos. You should also add ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract to your white chocolate to get the mint flavor.
- No White Chocolate - If you can't find white chocolate, you can use candy melts in a pinch but the flavor will be a little different.
How to make Peppermint Bark Oreos
These peppermint chocolate-covered Oreos are a super easy treat to make! Before you start, line a baking sheet with wax paper or a silicon mat.
STEP 1: Place your unwrapped candy canes into a heavy duty plastic bag. Use a rolling pin to smash the candy canes into pieces. You don't want dust, so don't go too crazy 😉
STEP 2: Melt your white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave safe bowl. Dip each Oreo in the melted chocolate, one at a time.
STEP 3: Use a fork to lift the cookie out of the melted chocolate. Tap the fork on the side of the pan a few times to get the excess chocolate drip off of the cookie.
STEP 4: Place the white chocolate covered cookie on the lined baking sheet and sprinkle it immediately with the candy cane pieces.
Storage
Once the white chocolate coating has hardened, transfer the Oreos to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to one week.
You can also freeze these cookies. The peppermint bits may soften as the cookies are thawed, but the cookies will stay fresh for several months. They are delicious eaten straight from the freezer too!
