    Is Oat Flour Gluten Free?

Oats are a bit of a controversial ingredient in the gluten free world. Oats are gluten free. However, there is a lot of cross contact in the growing and processing of oats, which leads to many brands of oats not testing as gluten free.

Oats contain two main proteins, avenalin, which is similar to the protein found in legumes, and avenin, which is similar to wheat gluten. Because of this, some people experience cross reactivity, or have similar symptoms to what they experience when they eat gluten. So, you just have to try it out for yourself to see if you're able to tolerate gluten free oats well.

It's important to buy certified gluten free oats or purity protocol oats if you are required to follow a gluten free diet.

    What is Oat Flour?

Oat flour is simply made of ground oats.

Oats are considered to be one of the better cereal grains to consume. Oats contain the highest percentage of protein of all the cereal grains. In addition, they are made up of about 10% fiber by weight, which is an aid to digestion as well as keeping you fuller feeling for longer.

Oats have been found to both lower cholesterol and blood sugar, making them a great alternative to other grains.
